‘Coffee and cake’ day for Carlow woman who had seizures and stroke

A shop in Tullow, Co. Carlow is hosting a coffee day for a mother who had multiple seizures and a stroke
A Spar in Carlow will host a ‘Coffee and Cake’ day tomorrow to help raise funds for a mother who suffered from multiple seizures and a stroke.
Spar Tullow announced on Facebook that between 7am and 3pm, it will be hosting the coffee morning to raise funds for Sharon Timmins.
In January, Sharon suffered a “massive brain bleed” followed by “seizures and a stroke,” according to a GoFundMe set up by her husband, Damien.
Following this, Sharon had to spend six weeks in Beaumont Hospital, where she was on life support.
She then spent three weeks in ICU, before being moved at St. Luke’s Hospital and Sacred Hospital Carlow while recovering.
On May 20th, Sharon got to come home.
“It's been a tough time for myself and my 2 sons. Sharon's progress will long and slow but she is doing well,” Damien wrote.
As well as the seizures and stroke, Sharon has lived with two types of arthritis since she was in her mid-30s.
She lost her dad in May 2024 and lost her mam in October 2025, both of which Sharon and her husband cared for at home.
It’s been a difficult few years for Sharon, so any support is greatly appreciated by the family.
The GoFundMe has raised over €3,000 so far, and Spar Tullow will be collecting donations throughout its ‘Coffee and Cake’ day.
